Muay thai is known in English as Thai boxing. It is the national sport of Thailand and originated in army tactics of the Siamese (now Thai) army. Muay thai fights include punches, kicks, elbows, knees, standing grappling and head butts. All of this is done to knock out the opponent. Those who do muay thai develop cardiovascular endurance, speed, coordination and more.

And most muay thai enthusiasts insist that you need proper muay thai shorts to compete and work out effectively. Muay thai shorts are designed to allow freedom of movement. In training for muay thai, you’ll need punching or kicking bags, pads, various body protection, jump ropes and punch balls. All these items will help you develop coordination, speed and fitness.
Muay thai is an intense sport that has been a popular spectator sport in Thailand for many years. It involves much tradition and ceremony, which you will see if you watch or participate in muay thai. Before a muay thai competition, participants do a boxing dance, which helps relax them and get them ready for the competition. The dance also helps the competitors to warm up and be ready for the competition right before it begins.
