Many dieters falsely believe that you have to starve yourself to lose weight or gorge yourself with fatty foods to gain weight. While both diet plans can certainly be used to reach your personal weight plan goals, there is a better and downright, healthier way to gain or lose weight. It won’t subject you to hunger pains, impossible caloric intake or uncomfortable bloating and digestive discomfort. By eating 6 balanced meals every day you can satisfy your hunger throughout the day and you can lose or gain as much weight as you want.
The human body is one large chemical reaction and there is a simple law that governs whether you will lose or gain weight, energy in must equal energy out. If you eat more in a day than you burn, either sitting at your desk, on the couch or exercising, then your body will store the excess energy. If you consume fewer calories than you burn in a day, then your body will have to use the fat or muscle in your body for energy and you will lose weight. That’s it, that is the simple law that governs your body and once you understand the relationship between food and energy, you can gain or lose as much weight as you want.
Depending on your body type (i.e. ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph), your body will burn a particular number of calories throughout the day whether you exercise or not. Just breathing and pumping blood to your hands and feet requires energy. In fact, eating requires a certain amount of energy too. Unfortunately however, the amount of energy required to eat, breathe and keep your heart beating, is about as much energy supplied in half of a sandwich. So clearly we are going to need to burn more calories than veg-out on the couch or sit at the desk all day.
Reaching your ideal body weight requires two elements, whether you are looking to lose weight or gain weight: nutrition (not dieting) and exercise. Eat six meals per day, with each meal providing animal protein, whole grains and leafy green vegetables. Exercise to burn more calories than you eat in a day if you want to lose weight and limit your if you want to gain weight. That is all you need to do. Eat lean meat, lowfat cheese or eggs (preferably whites) with every meal, cut out sugars and “bad fats” (i.e. fried foods, creams, desserts), limit alcohol consumption and your body will give you the rewards you have been looking for.
